The longer pole on the Cream stem felt as though it was catching on the bottom housing cavity and led to an odd feeling that I would term a two-stage bottom out. ![]() However, the switch once assembled had an odd feel and sound when actuating. ![]() For my particular batches of the Cream and Tangerines, the stem went into the housings fine which I cannot say for more recent batches of the same switch with individuals on Discord stating that their housings will not close. The most prominent thing I would like to start my review with is that the second version of the Creamsicle is something I didn’t bother with pursuing a full board. These combos will use whatever spring you prefer but for my review will be SPRiT 68g Slows. The second combination, which I will review less thoroughly is a Cream stem in a Tangerine Housing. The first being the top housing from an NK Cream, the bottom housing from a C3 Tangerine and a UHMWPE stem (originally an Invyr stem but for my use case a 415keys Rev 4.0 UHMWPE stem). In this case, the Creamsicles I will be testing will be of the two common combinations that I have seen. Never before in a switch review have I had the Factual section be the potential subject of debate but the nature of frankenswitches is that people sometimes assign the same name to different variations of a switch. To endear me to my loyal following of around 90 people (pls sponsor me switch manus) I decided to put together a fairly prominent frankenswitch within the hobby, but one that is often the subject of rather spirited discourse, the Creamsicle. This was perhaps most apparent when realising despite the large number of switches I owned, I had only put together one batch of frankenswitches, the Holy Butt Crack (don’t ask, review coming soon). It is a good idea but the amount of experimenting and compatibility issues that one runs into whilst going through the process of disassembling and reassembling switches en masse was not an enticing prospect to me. It is often requested that I put together some of the constituent parts of my vast number of switches to form what is known as a frankenswitch in the hobby. TL:DR Tangerine v2s are really smooth but hella clacky.Unique but likely divisive sound signature. I didn’t film this but I also tried a sakurio stem in the housing it was surprisingly pleasant! I might make these when I finish making my MX Zilents The Invyr UHMWPE stems did make it smoother but made it clackier even with the switch films. This is by far the smoothest switch I have stock. Pretty lucky that I didn’t get anything unusable. It came in a regular plastic mailer with no bubble wrap or anything. I had to unbend some of the switches that I got. I only played around with a few switches so I didn’t see any inconsistencies with the lube job. Probably the worst sounding switch I’ve heard in awhile, definitely the clackiest switch I have. O: Tangies R2 w/ Novel Keys Cream (TX Filmed) I: Tangies R1 Black Bottom (205g0/TX Filmed/Gat Yellow Springs) U: Tangies R2 with Invyr UHMWPE Stems (TX Filmed) R: Novel Keys Cream (205g0/TX Filmed/60g) I only had 1 unusable switch, but it was annoying to have to rebend 1/3 of my switches b/c of poor packaging. A bit clacky on the, please send switches in a better protected package. Or relubing them with 3204 might bring them up to 9/10. Guessing some lubrication in the top housing would bring them up to 8.5/10. They do feel close to black inks in smoothness and weighting.Īlso, like inks, I think they’re a great option for someone who wants a smooth switch without having worry about lubricating (and, someone who doesn’t care about RGB). They feel heavier than my 70g laserons for sure. However, if you were going to lube these with something thick, I’m betting you would have to clean them all off. But overlube of oil isn’t a huge deal for using them stock. A few might have been overlubed in my opinion. Speaking of lube, they do have factory oil lube in them. I usually lube the upper housing to fix this sound. They is something about the return I don’t like though. Close in feel to inks and tealios, but with more wobble. ![]() No noticeable play between the top and bottom housings. None of this breaking your damn thumbs to get them into switch plates. Okay, a whole hour now that I’ve had my switches.Ĭool colorway! Of course, this is a negative if you want RGB switches that show anything other than red and orange
